Exchanges Returns and Refunds

To be eligible for an exchange or a return, your item must be unused/unworn and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging with tags. Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.

Exchanges

To initiate an exchange, please visit our Returns and Exchanges page.

If you are located in the United States, you have 30 days from order fulfillment to exchange any item. We will also issue an exchange for a damaged, defective, or incorrect product received in your order.

Made Trade will send you a complimentary return label to your email that you can affix to your package. Made Trade does not charge a return shipping fee for your first exchange request within 30 days of order fulfillment. Once your exchange is received and inspected, we will send you an email notifying you we’ve received your exchange. We’ll then issue you a new order for your replacement item. Alternatively, if you prefer to place your exchange order proactively, we will waive the return shipping fee once your returned item is received.

Once your return is received and inspected, we’ll send you an email that we’ve received your return, and your store credit or refund will be processed within 5 business days.

Final Sale Items 

Final sale items are noted on the product page, and they include furniture, lighting, oversized items (like hampers and rugs), gift cards, all underwear bottoms and bodysuits, sale items discounted 40% or more, as well as any items with the "final sale" notice. All orders outside the U.S. are final sale.

International orders

All international orders are final sale. Any duties, taxes, import fees, or carrier brokerage fees incurred in the destination country are the recipient’s responsibility.

Once an order is placed, it is sent off for processing and cannot be cancelled. Not to worry, as long as it's not a final sale item, you can initiate a return or exchange when it arrives. Initiate an exchange or a return by visiting our Returns and Exchanges page within 30 days of order fulfillment.

Once your return is received and inspected, we’ll send you an email that we’ve received your return, and your store credit or refund will be processed within 5 business days.

If you submitted your return and do not see a return label, please allow up to 24 hours for your label to generate. You will receive an email as soon as the shipping label is available.

Shipping and Orders

If an item is out of stock, we recommend joining the waitlist. Click the "join the waitlist" button, enter your email, and we'll send you an email as soon as the item is restocked.


Products usually ship within 2-3 business days after we receive your order.

Delivery in the contiguous U.S. is typically 3-5 business days and 5-7 business days for international orders (outside of the U.S.) but could be slightly longer if there are carrier or customs delays. Some made-to-order products can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to ship. How quickly an item ships and if it is made-to-order is clearly noted on the product page and on the cart page.

Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories generally takes 8-21 business days. Please note, we charge shipping fees to these areas due to higher and varying shipping costs.

Made Trade is Climate Neutral Certified which means all Made Trade orders, including shipping and returns, are 100% carbon offset. All carbon emissions from the production, as well as the transportation of any product on Made Trade, are 100% offset through the purchasing of carbon credits through our partnership with Climate Neutral. Learn more about how Made Trade is carbon neutral by reading our article on Made Trade Magazine.

We do not have an option to select a preferred carrier when placing an order. All orders over $100 ship for free in the continental United States. Orders under $100 are charged a flat $7.95 shipping fee.

We use FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, and furniture freight carriers depending on the item, the package weight, and the destination.

We ship to the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories.

Made Trade does not offer rush or express shipping. However, products in our Quick Ship collection ship out from the warehouse within two business days.

We offer free shipping on all orders* over $100 in the contiguous United States and charge a flat $7.95 shipping fee on all orders under $100 in the contiguous United States, excluding most furniture products.

*We do not offer free shipping on all furniture products. Freight shipping fees for furniture items depend on the product size, dimensions, and weight.

For orders to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, or Puerto Rico, we charge shipping fees due to higher and varying shipping costs. We, unfortunately, cannot ship most furniture outside the contiguous United States.

You can look up the shipping status on your order anytime via our order tracking page by entering your order number and email address. There you will also be able to see your tracking information.

Please note this applies to most products — some of our specialty items and furniture will not include a tracking number via email, and you will receive updates from our customer support team directly.

We're able to update your address as long as your package hasn't been prepared for shipment. If you realize you made a mistake with your shipping address, please reach out to our customer support team if you haven't done so yet at [email protected] with your correct address, and we'll do our best to update your address in time.

If your order is already prepared for shipment or assigned a tracking number, it's likely that we won't be able to update your shipping address as the shipment has already been processed. If the shipped package is later returned to sender, we'd be happy to ship it to you again, but we will ask you to cover the shipping costs. For more information, check out our cancellation policy.

Sometimes when you order more than one item on Made Trade, your order will ship in more than one package. This is because most of our products ship directly from their original warehouses. This avoids unnecessary, duplicative shipping to a single warehouse and then to the customer when an order is placed.

At Made Trade, we take the impact shipping has on the environment very seriously. That’s also why all orders on Made Trade are 100% carbon neutral, including all shipping and return shipping. We offset the carbon dioxide emitted from the entire shipping journey of a product (from maker to warehouse to the customer) by purchasing carbon credits from projects that are actively sequestering, destroying, or avoiding the creation of carbon dioxide altogether. Read more about Made Trade’s Climate Neutral Certification.

You can look up the shipping status on your order anytime on our order tracking page by entering your order number and email address. As soon as your order is in transit, you will receive an email notification with tracking updates until the package(s) reaches your door.

Payment, Gift Cards, and Store Credit

Entering your code for store credit acts the same as redeeming a gift card when checking out on Made Trade.

After you've finished shopping, click "checkout," and below the items you are purchasing, there will be a space to enter a gift code or store credit code. Once you've entered your store code, select "Apply," and your store credit will be applied to your order.

Shop Pay makes it safe and easy to checkout in one click. Not a problem, we're happy to retroactively apply your discount code if your order is eligible and was placed within the discount window. Many of the products on Made Trade are made to order, meaning they are made specifically for you when you order the item. These products are handcrafted or made with processes that require more time, like hand-painted ceramics or handwoven rugs. Made Trade supports slow, made-to-order production because it ensures we can work with small-batch manufacturers and makers while also supporting low-waste production practices. You can see how long a product will take by looking for the "Ships in" note on the product page that says, on average, how long it takes for a product to ship.

The Made Trade team vets every product we carry to ensure it's aligned with our values. Each of the 150+ brands, small businesses, makers, and artisan collectives we partner with goes through an extensive application process where we collect detailed information about their products, manufacturing process, labor conditions, materials, fair trade status, third-party verifications, and much, much more. We conduct thorough reviews of our products to provide true transparency to our customers.

Our application process includes vetting sustainable sourcing of materials, verifying safe working conditions, and ensuring everyone along the supply chain is paid a livable wage. Many of the products we carry are made in workshops or factories with third-party certifications that verify the sustainability of the materials, fair wages, and working conditions. You can always find relevant certifications listed in the product details or the 'About the brand' section of any particular product.

For some single makers or smaller businesses, third-party certifications can be costly and can take years to be implemented. When a brand or factory isn't third-party certified, our team does extensive research and investigation to verify living wages in the region (these are often very different from the minimum wage), working conditions, and additional benefits offered to workers and employees.

Yes, we offer both handwritten gift cards and digital gift cards. Digital Gift Cards are delivered immediately to the recipient via email or scheduled to arrive in their inbox on a specific day. Handwritten Gift Cards are mailed directly to the recipient (enter their address at checkout) or can be sent to you (enter your address at checkout).

All international orders are final sale. We, unfortunately, cannot ship large hampers, furniture, and cast iron products outside the contiguous United States.
